“Titanium or stainless steel?” is not enough to choose a cup. Two mugs can differ in capacity, wall construction, lid arrangement and the amount of information their sellers publish. A material comparison that ignores those differences can suggest a winner the evidence does not support.
Here is a concrete example: the AVINOTI 390ml Titanium Travel Cup sold by AVINO and Snow Peak's Stainless Vacuum-Insulated Mug in 300ml. We sell the AVINOTI cup discussed here; this is a seller-authored comparison. This is a comparison of published descriptions, not a hands-on test, a like-for-like laboratory comparison or a claim that either model represents every cup made from its material.
What the two listings actually establish
Sources checked on 12 September 2026: AVINOTI 390ml product details and Snow Peak MG-213 product details.
| Field | AVINOTI 390ml | Snow Peak MG-213 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed capacity | 390ml | 300ml in the product name; the specification also lists 10 fl oz |
| Body material | Listing describes pure titanium inside and outside | Stainless steel |
| Wall construction | The reviewed description does not state a vacuum-insulation specification | Manufacturer describes vacuum-insulated double walls |
| Weight | No numeric weight in the reviewed description | 110g |
| Outside dimensions | Not stated in the reviewed description | Diameter 2.8 inches; height 3.5 inches |
| Lid or handle detail | Description identifies a Tritan inner lid | Description identifies collapsible handles; listed contents name the mug, not a lid |
Missing information is not a negative test result. In particular, the AVINOTI description's lack of a numeric weight does not mean the cup is heavy. Nor does the titanium label prove it is lighter than the stainless candidate. You need the actual weight of the complete configuration you will carry before making that comparison.
Capacity is the clearest difference—but not a fill instruction
The nominal capacities differ by 90ml, calculated as 390 minus 300. If you want the larger listed capacity, the AVINOTI is the larger of these two candidates on that measure. This does not establish the usable serving volume below a safe fill line, and it does not mean you should fill either vessel to the rim.
For an illustrative 250ml serving, both advertised capacities exceed that amount. That arithmetic alone does not confirm suitable clearance for a lid or hot liquid. Check the product's filling instructions and the configuration you intend to use. If those instructions are unavailable, ask before relying on the nominal number.
Insulation: distinguish a stated design from a measured result
Snow Peak identifies a vacuum-insulated design. The AVINOTI description reviewed here identifies inner and outer titanium but does not establish the same construction. Do not silently turn “inside and outside” into “vacuum insulated.”
If heat retention is your deciding factor, this leaves a specific next question for AVINO: what is the cup's wall construction, and is there a documented retention test with conditions? Neither listing comparison supplies a controlled head-to-head test, so this article cannot give you a number of extra hot hours or a measured performance winner.
For carrying, settle the lid question separately
A named inner-lid material is not a leakproof guarantee. Likewise, collapsible handles address storage shape, not spill containment. Before placing a filled cup in a bag, verify that the exact cup-and-lid combination is intended for that use; do not infer it from “travel” in the name.
For the AVINOTI candidate, ask for complete packed weight, outside dimensions and the intended carrying orientation. For the Snow Peak candidate, check the current contents and any separately offered lid rather than assuming a lid is included. These questions produce a more useful shortlist than treating one metal as universally better.
Which one belongs on your shortlist?
Keep the AVINOTI candidate if its larger listed capacity and described inner-lid arrangement match your priorities, then resolve the missing specifications. Keep the Snow Peak candidate if its documented dimensions and vacuum construction match your priorities and you have checked the carrying setup you need. Neither conclusion establishes durability, taste or comfort superiority.
Return to the AVINOTI 390ml listing with those questions, or compare the manufacturer specifications for the other candidate. Choose based on the answers—not on an assumed material ranking.
